YOGA
Definition: Yoga is an ancient system of breathing practices, physical exercises and postures, and meditation intended to integrate the practitioner's body, mind, and spirit. Doha-yoga-and-fitness offers part of the hatha yoga tradition and is a vinyasa style. This practice will create greater health, mental awareness and balance. Hatha is a Sanskrit word that means several things. It literally translates to "force" or "physical". It can be broken down into "ha" and "tha". "Ha" represents the qualities of masculine, solar or energizing. "Tha" represents the qualities of feminine, lunar or relaxing. The word hatha invokes the balance of opposites. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word "yuj" which means yoke or union. Hatha yoga is the union of opposites through physical practices. Doha-yoga-and-fitness uses traditional poses to help create balance in the body and complement the activities of our daily lives. The class involves linking several poses together to create strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. This technique is called vinyasa which means "to place in a special way". Doha-yoga-and-fitness classes are created to effectively work all parts of the body equally, creating an experience of non-judgment and non-competition. All levels of fitness welcome.
PILATES
Definition: Pilates is a method of body conditioning which uses a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over ninety years ago. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance, unites the body and mind and creates a more streamlined shape. It is a fantastic way to work the core. All levels of fitness welcome.
BODY SCULPTING/TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING
Definition: This class uses controlled moves emphasizing perfect form to define the body and build lean muscle mass. You’ll use weights, body bars, medicine balls and balance balls.
SPINNING
Definition: This class is done on a spinning bike and will develop your cardiovascular strength and endurance like no other workout. You will be lead through different styles of rides with motivational music and class instruction.
